BLACK HOLES
Black holes have such great gravitational pull that not even light can escape. All black holes start as a star. Then they turn in to a red super giant, a supernova, and lastly a black hole.
Slide 3
MILKY WAY
The sun is located about 26,000 light years from the center of the milky way Galaxy. Earth is located on the Orion arm . It takes the sun 200-250 million years to orbit the milky way . In this orbit we travel at 155 miles per second .
Moon
The moon has no atmosphere . The same side always faces earth . Neil Armstrong and buzz  Aldrin were the first to walk on the moon on July 20 ,1969 . the moon is 238,900 miles from earth on average.
Slide 6
Mercury
A year on mercury takes 87.97 earth days . One day on mercury  takes 58.65 earth days [ 2/3  off it’s year.] mercury  is the closest planet to the sun. the same side of mercury always faces the sun. mercury temperature is 950 degrees in the sun and 210 degrees in the shade.
Slide 8
Venus
Venus is 95% the size of earth. A 100 pound person would weigh 91 pounds on venus. Venus is 67,230,000 miles from the sun.the average temperature on  Venus  is a very hot 870 degrees.
Slide 10
Earth
Earth is 7,926 miles in diameter. That is 4 times bigger than the moon. The earth travels 93 million miles in one orbit around the sun. the earth’s surface travels 40,000 km./24 hours.
Slide 12
Mars
Mars nicknamed is the red planet. It is half the size of earth. it has a dry rocky surface and a very thin atmosphere. the north and south poles of mars are covered by ice caps composed of frozen carbon dioxide and water.
Slide 14
Jupiter
Jupiter is the 5th and largest planet. Jupiter is mostly made of gas. Jupiter’s diameter is 88,700 miles. Jupiter’s red spot is larger than earth. Jupiter is so big that all the planet’s in our solar system could fit inside Jupiter if it was hollow.
Slide 16
Slide 17
Saturn
Saturn is about 74,898 miles in diameter. Saturn is 9.4 times bigger than earth in diameter. There are 1,000 rings around Saturn. Each ring is about 0.6 of a mile thick. Saturn’s average temperature is –290 degrees. Saturn has 18 moons.
Slide 19
Uranus
Uranus is the 7th planet from the sun. it has 11 rings and 22 moons.Uranus’s mass is  14 times greater than earth. The average temperature  is –350 degrees.  A year on Uranus takes 84.07 earth Years. Uranus’s  is made of gas; its atmosphere consists of 83% hydrogen, 15% helium and 2% methane.
Slide 21
Neptune
Neptune is about 30,775 miles in diameter. Neptune’s mass is about 17.14 times bigger than earth. Each day on Neptune takes 19.1 earth hours. A year on Neptune takes 164.8 years. Since Neptune was discovered in 1846 it has not completed even one revolution.
Slide 23
Pluto
Pluto’s mass is .22 percent of the mass of earth. It would take about 454 Pluto's to equal the mass of earth. Each day on Pluto takes 6.39 earth days. Each year on Pluto takes 247.7 earth years. A 100 pound person would weigh only 8 pounds! Pluto is now a dwarf planet.
